Federal Resources

Library of Congress
The Library of Congress' site is perhaps the best-known and most comprehensive source for federal- and library-related information. Included are many pointers to congressional sites, directories of personnel, and, of course, services of the Library of Congress, including the Library of Congress Catalogs and an extensive array of bibliographies.

FirstGov
FirstGov bills itself as "the first-ever government website to provide the public with easy, one-stop access to all online U.S. Federal Government resources." FirstGov provides a single research portal to U.S. government Web sites as well as to online transactions with government agencies.

Thomas
Thomas is the place to look for recent and pending federal legislation. Thomas, named after Thomas Jefferson, provides full text of legislation, searchable by keyword and bill number. The full text of the Congressional Record can also be retrieved.

GPO Access
GPO Access is the Government Printing Office' gateway to the full text of the Congressional Record, the Federal Register and the GAO Reports. Advanced searching features such as limiting by section or a range of dates are available for these three databases. Other databases, such as the Senate and House Calendars, the United States Code, the Unified Agenda, and the Congressional Directory can be searched using truncation, adjacency operators, and Boolean expressions. New databases include: The Economic Report of the President, The Supreme Court Decisions, 1937-1975, The U.S. Government Policy & Supporting Positions, also referred to as The Plum Book

CAPWeb
CAPWeb bills itself as an unofficial guide to the U.S. Congress, put together by some congressional staffers who know how to dig up information on Capitol Hill. The emphasis is on clear presentation and organization of the most useful federal resources.

Fedworld Information Network
The Fedworld Information Network is managed by NTIS, the National Technical Information Service. Its goal is to provide a one-stop location for the public to locate, order and have delivered to them, U.S. Government information. Fedworld offers access to many Government bulletin board systems that are not otherwise available on the Internet.

FEDSTATS
FedStats provides cross-agency statistics for federal government agencies that report expenditures of $500,000 or more. Queries can be limited by state and by topic.
